‘The Christmas Poet’ Thursday Stories with Baby Frederico (and Claire!)

*Every Thursday we introduce you to another quick bedtime story about our family’s favorite resident reptile – Baby Frederico. His backstory can be found here.  Enjoy!

Today’s story is by our guest writer and 13-year old daughter!

Baby Frederico loves his Momma Mia and Papá Frita, his buddy Grenelda the Grasshopper, blue crayons, popcorn and sweet potato casserole…but he did not like poetry (until he wrote his very first poem)!   Here is his story:

“It’s Christmas Eve!”  Baby Frederico yelled into the phone.

“I know!” said Grenelda.  “You think it’ll snow?”

“Imagine all the presents, the family, the lights!” Baby Frederico said with delight.

For he knew just anything could happen on this magical night.

As the two friends hung up, they rushed to their beds, where they hoped to see little sugar plum iguanas and grasshoppers dancing in their heads.

But right as Baby Frederico was drifting to sleep, he thought he heard the pitter-patter of reindeer feet!

Running to his living room, the little iguana heard the chimney go “Boom!”

And there was Santa, just like that!  In all his red, his bag, and his hat!

He placed all the presents under the tree, then turned around and looked at Baby Freddy.

“Ho, ho, ho!” Santa chuckled and said, “Hello!  Would you like to know a secret?”

Then Baby Frederico leaned in as Santa declared, “Christmas isn’t just all about me, presents, lights, or snow in the air.  It’s about a baby’s birth, peace, love, and joy to share.  And happiness, Fred, everywhere!”

Then Santa turned round, and with a sparkle in eye, flew back up the chimney, and into the sky.

Baby Frederico, amazed, sat by the tree and considered just one thought:

Christmas is more than about what is bought.  It’s about joy and happiness that is found deep within.  It’s finding true peace that can only be found in Him.
